Christine Soifer, 25

At just 25, Christine Soifer has learned to multitask in a big way. She oversees a fleet of 90 vehicles, manages more than 150 employees, and spearheads performance-improvement initiatives for Yonkers-based Westchester Ambulette/Countywide Transportation.

“We are the largest nonemergency medical transportation in the county,” Soifer explains. “We serve individuals with intellectual disabilities and physical disabilities, as well as the nondisabled — seniors and folks with Alzheimer’s and dementia; we pick up from their homes and bring them to their programs and activities.”

Working with nonprofits, like Cerebral Palsy of Westchester and Wartburg Rehabilitation Center, among many others, the company transported 100,000 people last year from various points in Westchester and New York City.

Soifer’s father started the company in the late 1990s; she joined the family business in 2017, after completing an MBA at Iona College and working as an assistant to Yonkers mayor Mike Spano.

The New Rochelle native jumped right in and launched extensive changes within the company, including improved safety protocols and camera systems, GPS tracking technology, tablets for driver routes, as well as cost-cutting measures in maintaining the fleet.

“I love what I do; every day, I wake up happy,” Soifer says. “We are a big part of serving a population, by getting them to the resources they need — and we get them there on time, safely.”
