Guess who’s taken the first steps to playing in the Masters at Augusta National next spring? Jordan Speith will certainly be there, but some of these youngsters might, too, since they qualified in the first stage of the 2016 Drive Chip Putt competition at Apawamis Country Club in Rye this week.
The youngsters competed against others in their age group in three skills: driving, chipping, and putting. They were awarded up to 25 points on each of three shots for their performance in each skill and the ones with the highest number of accumulated points were declared winners. These were the winners in each age group (though additional qualifiers will be eligible for the next stage of competition).

These winners will compete in the sub-regional event at Bethpage in August, then hope to go on to the final regional qualifier at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts.
