Alyssa Benjamin has always loved fashion. In high school. She’d devour Teen Vogue and Elle magazines. Then, she piled on the internships—including stints at Teen Vogue, a fashion PR firm, and Eileen Fisher. Her experience at Eileen Fisher in 2007 was a mutual love fest. In 2010, a year after graduating from Boston University, the company asked Benjamin to apply for a job with the company. “I really, really loved interning there, and knew I wanted to work for a company that really valued their employees,” she says.
Six months and four interviews later, Benjamin was offered the newly created position of retail communications specialist, working to streamline communication between corporate headquarters and Eileen Fisher’s nearly 60 retail stores, and implementing and assessing new uses of technology within the stores. “It takes a lot of coordination, and a lot of patience,” Benjamin says. “That’s been a lot of the initial work, getting people to work together to make the change.”
“Eileen believes that there is a leader in everyone, and this is very true with Alyssa,” says her manager, Allison King. “She knows how to use her sound reasoning and instincts to move a project forward, searching for solutions that will bring satisfaction to everyone involved. She is wonderful with people. She listens and learns from them, and knows how to connect in a way that allows people to feel comfortable and confident in their work.”
