Marsha Rand is the CEO and founder of Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty, one of the top 100 real estate brokerages in the US, according to REAL Trends magazine.
Since launching her eponymous firm 28 years ago, Rand has expanded it from just one office in Rockland County to 25 locations throughout the Hudson Valley. In April 2009, she opened her own Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate franchise. Today, she oversees an 800-salesperson company that is still expanding; recently, additional offices have opened in Somers and Larchmont.
The firm is one of the few to offer full real estate services. “The most satisfied customer is the one-stop shopper,” says Rand, who has brought all four of her sons—Matt, Greg, Joe, and Dan—into the business, with Joe and Matt now running the day-to-day operations. She does, she says, resist the urge to turn holidays into business meetings, although “when we watch the grandchildren, we all can’t help but say, ‘Oh, I think this one might be a future broker.’”
