Just Your Cup of Cake

Sometimes, a cupcake just can’t cut it. To achieve the single-size portion and portability of a cupcake, you have to sacrifice the crunchy, fruity, fluffy, and otherwise structurally unstable layers that traditional cakes can provide. Never fear: the Brooklyn-based Bee’s Knees Baking Company, which delivers to Westchester, has developed a way for couples to have their moist and sticky cakes and eat them—neatly—too. The company takes single-serve portions of delicious layer cakes and puts them in either Champagne flutes or heavy-bottomed whiskey glasses (which can be customized for favors). Its Cake Cups are made from locally sourced ingredients, with flavors like gingerbread layered with eggnog frosting and roasted walnuts, “PB&J” (yellow cake with strawberry cayenne jam and peanut butter mousse), chocolate toffee (chocolate cake infused with salted caramel and topped with an English-pecan-toffee crumble), and Southern pecan pie infused with bourbon and chocolate. A Slice of Love

What better send-off for your Amalfi Coast honey- moon than the heady aroma of a Margherita pizza baking? Sure, there are lots of food trucks catering to post-reception munchies with burgers or ice cream, but Jen Cook of Cooking with Fire travels with her own Tuscan-style brick oven, and whips up some of the most imaginative personal pies right on the spot. Not into late-late-night dining? Plan a pizza-party cocktail hour prior to your reception or the morning-after breakfast (yes, there is a delicious sweet potato, egg, and crispy prosciutto variety). Cook, an Institute of Culinary Education grad, can add on salads, desserts, brunch options, and can even pair wines with various pizzas. She’s also a pro at making gluten-free versions. The minimum price for a two-hour party is $1,100 and includes up to 40 personal pizzas with a variety of topping choices (fig and prosciutto are the most popular); she will travel anywhere within the tri-state area, including the Hamptons. It’s best to book at least one to two months in advance. And pray for no rain (though they do bring a canopy) as the oven is outdoors. For more information, call (914) 841-1106 or email jen.cook@mac.com.

Mad for Macarons

For those who want a little of every flavor, consider turning a macaron, a French almond cookie, into a tower wedding cake. Méli-Mélo of Greenwich, Connecticut (203-629-6153; melimelogreenwich.com), created this confection from coffee, caramel, mango, lemon, strawberry, raspberry, mint, cassis, and chocolate macarons.
