Westchester Trainers' Favorite Workout Gear

So, what do the professionals wear to work out? We asked.

Eve Hartman
(Premier Athletic Club, Montrose)
Top: “I really love the Athleta Ready to Run top.”
Sportsbra: “I use a Champion sports bra because it gives you a little more shape.”
Bottom: Dri-FIT-lined woven women’s running skirt by Nike.
Footwear: Nike Free Run+2 women’s running shoe.
Socks: “Biking socks, like cycle socks by SmartWool.”

Mike Wolfert
(The Cliffs at Valhalla)
Top: “I like Granit Life. It’s an obscure company, but they make great tees and tanks.”
Bottom: Verve Climbing’s Belikos pants. “Their flexibility and breathe-ability are amazing, and they’re really good for yoga, climbing, martial arts, and anything where you need full-range movement.”
Footwear: “I like the trail running  shoes by Five Ten. They have a rubber that is stickier, and it works on rock and slick surfaces. You have to get used to running in them, though, because most people aren’t used to the shoes stopping after each step.”
Socks: “We don’t wear socks for climbing.”

Carla Braca
(Westchester Adventure Boot Camp, Somers)
Top: “I love Lululemon and Nike. Anything as long as it’s Dri-FIT material.”
Sportsbra: “Lululemon is great.”
Bottom: “I’m partial to Nike. As far as style, it really depends on what activity I’m doing.”
Footwear: “I like Mizuno running sneakers because they fit my foot really well.”
Socks: “I tend to wear anything that is similar to the Dri-FIT material—usually Nike.”

Mervyn Tugendhaft
(Saw Mill Club, Mount Kisco)
Top: “I swear by Under Armour and really like its men’s HeatGear short-sleeve compression T-shirt.”
Bottom: Under Armour HeatGear compression shorts.
Footwear: “When I do resistance training, I prefer martial arts shoes with a very thin sole, like Otomix MMA Shoes. And for running and cardio, Nike Shox.”
Socks: “Ankle socks that don’t show at all, like Nike Dri-FIT.”

Peter Belmar
(Belmars Martial Arts and Fitness, White Plains)
Top: T-shirts custom-made by Belmar.
Bottom: Custom-made shorts by Belmar (or long pants by Nike).
Footwear: Champion sneakers.
Socks: Any brand-name socks “as long as they’re comfy.”
