In the end, it was an Xbox that 22-year-old Jeremiah Gilliam stole that directly led the cops to his capture.
Gilliam, who is believed to have broken into as many as 200 cars and homes in Westchester County, was playing an online game with an Xbox he had stolen from a Pelham resident, when the console’s original owner saw his stolen system appear online from a friend’s Xbox. Cops were able to trace the Xbox’s IP address and capture Gilliam. They found dozens of video games, laptops, GPS devices, and more at his home.
