Westchester Police Set New Record for DWI Arrests

According to Westchester County Police spokesman Kieran O’Leary, the county cops have set a new record for DWI arrests, with 14 drivers arrested over the past weekend and a total of 601 drivers charged with driving while intoxicated or related crimes throughout 2009. Last year’s number was 588.

Public Safety Commissioner Thomas Belfiore attributed the rising number of arrests to changes in enforcement strategies.
