Hudson Valley Hospital Center: A fully accredited, not-for-profit hospital in Cortlandt Manor offering quality healthcare through a team of more than 350 physicians and 1,300 employees. Operating with a $160 million budget, Hudson Valley Hospital opened the Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Cancer Center and a new Medical Office Building in November 2011.
WHY WESTCHESTER: “Westchester provides a unique business atmosphere. Its proximity to NYC makes for a demanding consumer with the highest of expectations. At the same time, its scenic beauty and its complement of small communities, each with its own strong history and identity, make it a place where civility and small-town values are still important.”
LESSONS LEARNED: “Healthcare providers are faced daily with the enormous challenge of providing the highest quality of care in a stress-filled atmosphere. Support for your front-line staff and constant understanding and empathy are critical.”
SECRET TO SUCCESS: “Our patient satisfaction scores are consistently above 97 percent for one reason: Our employees are happy. When you love what you do, that is translated to the people you serve.”
REWARDING MOMENT: “There have been many proud moments for our hospital, and the most significant was our MAGNET designations achieved in 2007 and 2011. Only 7 percent of hospitals in the U.S. are designated, and we were the first hospital in the Hudson Valley region.”
WHAT’S NEXT: “These next five to seven years will be focused upon the ‘New Community Hospital’ and how it will serve the health needs of our growing and expanding community. We are growing to meet that need with new services such as our new Comprehensive Cancer Center. Our excellent medical staff is perfectly poised to meet this challenge.” http://www.hvhc.org
