Truck-Based Businesses Are Actually Trending Right Now

Digital Arts Experience Mobile STEM Lab

Two years after founding the White Plains-based Digital Arts Experience (DAE), Robert Kissner launched a mobile state-of-the-art facility this past September. The vehicle is outfitted with top-of-the-line computers, a 3D printer, and other tech essentials for DAE’s programming, design, and animation classes, enabling the mobile lab to provide 99 percent of DAE’s offerings to organizations and schools that want to offer these classes but lack the resources.

Mrs. Bloom’s Mobile

The brainchild of co-owners Ari and Oren Shapiro, Mrs. Bloom’s Mobile started as a charitable venture to raise money for Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Valhalla. The success of the program led to what is now a full-service flower shop on wheels, which travels to mostly corporate and downtown locations in Westchester, Fairfield, Rockland, and Bergen Counties. The truck has been so successful that the brothers are now considering franchising.

Frisky Business Mobile Dog Grooming

New Rochelle resident Megan Flanagan started Frisky Business Mobile Dog Grooming in 2011 (with plans for a second van to start rolling this year). Since the van comes to you (by appointment), the need to cage pets is eliminated, and “the grooming experience becomes significantly less stressful,” says Flanagan. Now servicing dogs and cats, Frisky Business utilizes a van complete with a dryer, table, clippers, A/C, vacuum, lights, and a therapeutic bathing system. It’s also entirely self-contained, thanks to its built-in generator and 100-gallon fresh-water reservoir.
