BUCHANAN—Governor Andrew Cuomo declared his intention to get Indian Point closed on his watch. Cuomo said the challenge of replacing the controversial nuclear plant’s 2,000 megawatts of electricity cannot overshadow safety considerations.

YONKERS—The YPD remains on the hunt for a 23-year-old gender-bending murder suspect, who cross-dresses as a woman to avoid capture. Ronnell Jones has been on the run for a year and has remained at large despite numerous sightings in Westchester and Manhattan.

RYE—An advisory panel for Rye Playland will include a suggestion in its final report to County Executive Rob Astorino to combine the best elements from all of the proposals on what to do with the beleaguered amusement park and pursue a “hybrid” plan.

MAMARONECK—A resident family is suing the town’s school district in federal court, seeking reimbursement for the cost of sending their dyslexic son to a private school upstate (for $53,000 per year). The family alleges that the district was derelict in its duty to meet their son’s special-ed needs.

NEW ROCHELLE—City resident and Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera unveiled plans to open a church in the city. Rivera intends to renovate the defunct North Avenue Church into the new, permanent home for Rivera’s church, Refugio de Esperanza.
