WINNERS
New Rochelle water-drinkers. The Queen City’s tap water was voted best in the state at the New York State Drinking Water Taste Test at the New York State Fair in Syracuse.
Children’s Hope Chest. The Purchase-based children’s charity lent a much-needed helping hand to another one, when it collected and donated brand new, fully stocked backpacks to the Andrus Children’s Center, to help the county kids it serves start the new school year prepared.
Manhattanville College. The Purchase school received a $5 million donation—the largest in its 170-year history—from an anonymous benefactor.
Robert Gebbia. The Mount Vernon resident was honored at the White House for his efforts as the executive director of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
LOSERS
Andrew Callands. The New Rochelle resident demonstrated a lot of chutzpah, or stupidity (or both), when he walked into the DA’s office and offered an eyewitness $500 to lie and say she did not see him burglarize her home.
Warren Rosenberg. The Iona College provost was suspended by the school for allegedly reporting inaccurate and misleading data regarding student performance to outside agencies.
Mark Falisi. The 25-year-old New Rochelle resident was arrested for assaulting his 61-year-old blind(!) uncle.
Saxon Woods Park soccer players. A fight that erupted among the players on September 1 escalated into a full-scale riot, prompting the arrest of 18 players.
