Everyone has to use a grocery store—so everyone’s got an opinion on which is best. In an article comparing Whole Foods and Stew Leonard’s we asked readers to weigh in on which grocery store in the county was their favorite.
The results: People love DeCicco Family Market and Stew Leonard’s. The poll had close to 9,500 votes as of Thursday afternoon, 53 percent of which went to DiCicco’s. Stew Leonard’s has pulled in 39 percent of votes. No other stores were even close to those numbers. Whole Foods was third with 5 percent of the vote.
DeCicco’s has Westchester locations in Ardsley, Armonk, Harrison, Pelham, Jefferson Valley, and Scarsdale. Commenters loved the markets’ customer service and “top quality foods.”
Stew Leonard’s only county location is in Yonkers (plus stores in Connecticut and one planned for Long Island). Again, people loved its customer service, but also its fresh seafood and “awesome hot buffet.”
A couple people commented saying that Wegmans, the wildly popular Rochester-based chain, was best—despite Wegmans, you know, not actually being in this county. Some more bad news on that front: It doesn’t look like the grocery store chain will be arriving here anytime soon. According to the company website, the closest new locations set to open are in Montvale, New Jersey, and Brooklyn.
But let’s keep this going. Please vote in our grocery poll if you haven’t already. We’ll close the poll Friday at 5 pm and update with a final winner.
