The Big Send-off

Rice and rose petals after the big “I Do” aren’t always enough. Some couples now are looking to make grand exits from their receptions as well as their ceremonies. After all, cutting off the music and slinking away after a day of celebration might seem anticlimactic (and big send-offs make for dramatic photos). So, how do you make a memorable exit? Couples have encouraged their guests to wave them away with bubbles, ribbon wands, or—our favorite—sparklers. (Clockwise from top right): Guests wave sparklers to add a dramatic flair to the bride and groom’s departure, as captured by Ulysses Photography (845-956-1605; ulyssesphotography.com); a couple at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie uses sparklers to respond with their own message of love, as photographed by Christopher’s Studio (914-834-4444; christophersstudio.net); Ulysses Photography catches newlyweds making a grand escape from their Rockland County venue; bubbles provide another fun backdrop for a couple leaving their reception at Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, also shot by Ulysses Photography.
