How do your Westchester customers compare to those at your other stores?
Our customers here are a little more conservative; they still want trendy items and are up on the latest fashion, but they may dress their kids less glitzy—fewer embellishments, rhinestones, and sequins.

What are some typical triggers for fashion meltdowns on the sales floor?
Sometimes a girl wants to dress in a more revealing or sophisticated manner than is appropriate for her age. Other times, children want certain higher-priced brands that their parents don’t see the value in purchasing.

What’s the hottest new fashion trend for back-to-school 2010? 
The military or cargo look is really, really big, like cargo pants or T-shirts with camouflage patterns, any kind of military patches, embroidery, or emblems.

And the new big jean style must-have?
The jegging, or jean legging—it has a jean construction with a zipper, fly, and pocket, but it’s made of a more lightweight knit fabric and fits like a legging.

What else will the coolest girls be sporting this fall? 
The equestrienne look—leggings with suede equestrienne-like inserts, like riding pants, worn with boots or flats. 

What’s the one type of footwear no self-respecting young fashionista should be without?
Black leather motorcycle boots with buckles, both short and tall.
