Sweets for the Sweet(hearts)

Non-traditional wedding treats from the croquembouche and cup (wedding) cakes to ice cream sundaes and chocolate showers, to Oreos, all dressed up.

In Favor

Help your guests remember your special day with a delicious treat: These tasty-looking bride-and-groom cookies are really Oreos in disguise with a carefully detailed tuxedo and wedding gown frosted on. Or make a really big statement at your shower with a huge chocolate engagement ring! Available at Chocolations in Mamaroneck.

Nuptial Eye Candy

Want something different from the tiered and traditional wedding cake? Stay with tradition if you must, but why not put a French spin on it? Croquembouche, which literally translates to “crunches in the mouth,” is simply a wedding cake disguised as a playful confection, as tasty as it is a visual wow. A cream-puff pyramid, it is held together with spun sugar and decorated with everything from threads of caramel to flowers, bows, or ribbons. Available at La Renaissance Patisserie in Scarsdale.

Wedding Cupcakes

When it comes to making special wedding cupcakes, Lulu’s Cake Boutique in Scarsdale really takes the cake. “Cupcakes make for a wonderful alternative to standard cake,” says Lulu’s co-owner Jay Muse. “They are much easier to serve, they double as a take-home goody, and they are compact and delicious.” LuLu’s also makes cupcake “present boxes” with different flavors for every box color, from a Southern red velvet cupcake with vanilla-bean buttercream filling, to a golden butter-yellow cupcake with coconut-cream custard, to a popular chocolate fudge cupcake soaked with salted caramel and topped off with organic milk-chocolate ganache. Tastefully decadent.

Chocolate Showers

Experts have attested to the fact that consumption of chocolate triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s very own opiate. So why not use this time in your life as a yummy opportunity? The Chocolate Box NYC is happy to help, offering an assortment of artisanal handmade chocolates, from truffles to toffee bars and all their glorious variations in-between. And, as the name implies, this shop actually makes boxes entirely out of chocolate (perfect for presenting the ring). Enjoy more still, by planning a Chocolate Bridal Shower. Decorate your shower table with chocolate bouquets, sip a chocolate-tini, even serve chocolate for lunch!

Its individually served mini ice cream cones, for example, are sure to be a hit with the bride and her maids.
