Rock Hill Camp
Mahopac, NY (845) 790-2326; girlscoutshh.org
Creating girls of “courage, character, and confidence” is a year-round mission for the Girl Scouts. So summer campers get a dose of girl power mixed in with swimming, boating, arts and crafts, ropes courses, archery, campfires, hiking, and special events. Older campers can also venture off-site for whitewater rafting, extreme hiking, and museum tours, or take part in leadership training opportunities. Each weeklong session is topic-based (with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and math), and, in some sessions, campers have the chance to earn Scout badges. Campers—who are not required to be Girl Scouts to attend—can choose to rough it in platform tents, or sleep in fully equipped cabins.
Ages: Grades one through 11 Dates: Six one-week sessions from June 28 to Aug 14 Fees: Starting at $315 up to $1,900 depending on length and type Transportation: No Drive Time from White Plains: 35 minutes
