Spano Proposes 4.9% Hike in Westchester Taxes

If you’re still reeling from the recent Census Bureau news that Westchester County topped the list for the highest taxes in the nation for the second year in a row, you may want to sit down.

County Executive Andy Spano, who’s on his way out of office, has proposed a 4.9% hike in county taxes, citing a sharp drop in sales tax and rising expenses. The proposed tax increase comes even despite cuts that include a week’s unpaid furlough for government workers.
