I must admit, I’m still getting used to the “social media” world. But a few things this week let me know I’m way behind. First, one of my co-workers visited my Facebook page and left me a note: “Wow, you only have thirty-seven friends…I thought you were Mr. Westchester!” To make things worse, there is only one photo of me on my Facebook page: me on a camel at the Pyramids in Egypt from a family trip almost a year ago. It’s pathetic.
But I’m happy to report that Westchester Magazine, which is clearly more up-to-date than I am, is active on Facebook and Twitter, and we have nearly 1,000 fans on each. But that’s just a start. We know there are more of you out there; after all, more than 50,000 of you subscribe to the magazine. So if you haven’t yet become a Facebook fan, go to facebook.com/westchestermagazine. If you are a fan and would like to suggest our Facebook page to your friends, have we got a deal for you. Invite your friends to become fans of ours and you might win a gourmet dinner for eight(!) at none other than Iron Chef Peter Kelly’s stunning X2O restaurant in Yonkers. For instructions, visit us at westchestermagazine.com.
Why “fan” us? If you enjoy Westchester Magazine, you’ll want to check in with what we’re doing in between issues. On Facebook and Twitter (twitter.com/westchestermag), you’ll be tuned in to what’s going on around the county and get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in our offices. But, even better, you’ll also be able to tell us what you think. Leave us comments and messages to tell us what you liked—and didn’t like—about each issue, tell us what you want to see more of in the future, and just chat a bit about life in Westchester.
And, oh yes, if you’re a friend of mine or want to become a friend, I welcome you to “friend” me on Facebook.
