For more than 65 years, Volunteer New York! has made it a priority to drive volunteerism throughout Westchester, connecting local residents with hundreds of nonprofit groups. As an organization that prides itself on social consciousness, Volunteer New York! has a primary goal of addressing root causes of poverty such as education, homelessness, and hunger.
Yet, Volunteer New York! is about more than just ideas; it strives for results. Last year, the organization inspired more than 15,000 volunteers to give 240,000 hours of their time to some 500 local nonprofits—service valued at more than $7.2 million.
“Volunteer New York! is a nonprofit organization with the gravitas of a Fortune 500 company and the nimbleness of a startup,” says Executive Director Alisa Kesten. “This year we celebrated our 65th anniversary with a virtual birthday party that attracted participation from more than 65 business, media, nonprofit, and public leaders.”
The organization has built a strong legacy, but current members are still seeking new opportunities to promote volunteerism. Recently awarded as a “Top Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits.org for the third consecutive year, Volunteer New York! continues to hold true to its core values of service and dedication to issues within the community.
