More than 5,000 families in Westchester County, including first-time homebuyers, growing families in need of more space, people wishing to refinance their home, and military personnel and veterans, now live in their dream homes because of A.S.A.P. Mortgage Corp., a Cortlandt Manor-based mortgage firm.
Irene Amato, a mother of three, launched A.S.A.P. Mortgage Corp. (the name stands for her three children: Alexa, Stephanie, and Peter) in 2001, from her home, and the firm now has 15 full-time employees.
No small feat, especially considering that the business had to withstand the impact of the recession. “A.S.A.P. Mortgage survived one of the worst economic meltdowns in our lifetime, which directly affected the mortgage and real estate industry,” says Amato. “Many small businesses were forced to close their doors, but we were determined to survive and grow.” She did it by obtaining a Federal Housing Administration license, which allowed the company to continue assisting borrowers even in troubled times.
Amato is determined to expand the firm’s reach; A.S.A.P. Mortgage recently became licensed in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania (and the firm was already licensed in Florida), and, in 2016, the company is adding offices in Connecticut, New York City, and Rockland County. Amato says the goal is to do whatever she can to “show clients that they’re able to participate in the American dream of home ownership.”
