Restaurant Openings, Closings, Kitchen Changes, and Food Events in Westchester County, NY

The owners of Puerto Rican restaurant Sofrito in Manhattan plan to open a location in the space that once housed Peniche (175 Main St, White Plains; sofritowhiteplains.com) by the start of this month. The new location will have a menu of classic island dishes: shredded beef stew with sweet plantains, red snapper stuffed with seafood, and roast pork with pigeon pea rice. Most entrées range from $16 to $32 // Joe Mangi, the owner of F.A.B. French American Bistro in Mount Kisco, has opened 50-seat Bistro 25 (1128 North St, White Plains 914-437-8100) at the Maple Moor Golf Course. Chef David Fierstein, formerly pasta chef at the Farmhouse at Bedford Post, cooks up Italian dishes like cappellini with oven-dried tomatoes and broccoli rabe, veal saltimbocca with prosciutto in a Cabernet sauce, and cioppino. Mains range from $16 to $28. Bistro 25 serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday and is open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch; there’s live music on Fridays // Greek restaurant Mythos (1006 Broadway, Thornwood 914-747-2122; mythosgreekrestaurant.net) is opening this month in the space that previously housed Finnegan’s Grill. Entrées, which range from $13 to $21, include gyros, kababs, charcoal-grilled lamb chops, moussaka, and broiled branzino with olive oil and lemon. Mythos is open every day for lunch and dinner // Chef Nisa Lee, who’s catered parties for Paul McCartney, Halle Berry, and Jay-Z, has opened a dinner-only pop-up restaurant, Nisa Lee’s Thai Café (129 Wolfs Lane, Pelham 914-708-6446; nisalee.com), located at breakfast and lunch spot M.A.D. Café. The menu features Lee’s signature Thai and fusion dishes, such as braised massaman beef short ribs, panang shrimp curry, and red Thai chicken curry. Mains range from $10 to $18. Nisa Lee’s Thai Café is open Wednesday through Sunday for dinner // Caffé Azzurri (20 N Central Ave, Hartsdale 914-358-5248; caffeazzurri.com) has transitioned from a fine-dining Italian restaurant and wine bar to a casual New American cookery. The newly decorated restaurant will feature a shorter menu with savory dishes like seared yellowfin tuna with a wasabi and soy sesame crust; braised lamb osso buco in a red wine sauce, and slow-cooked boneless beef short rib. Mains average $24 //  Impulse Hibachi & Bar Lounge (32 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains 914-285-1888; impulsehibachi.com) has opened across from the City Center 15 Cinema. The restaurant cooks up hibachi-style seafood and steaks ($14-$30). Impulse serves dinner every evening and lunch Monday through Friday // Havana Central (Ridge Hill Rd, Yonkers; havanacentral.com), a popular 250-seat Cuban restaurant with two locations in Manhattan, is set to open in February in Yonkers at the Ridge Hill complex. The menu features tapas, salads, paella, and classic Cuban dishes ($12-$24) like braised pork shank in Cabernet Sauvignon, shrimp in garlic sauce, and guava-glazed Havana-style ribs.
