R5 Westchester's Top Caterers: Love on the Run in Mount Kisco

It was love at first bite for Seema Boesky and Leslie Lampert’s Love on the Run, beginning when Boesky sampled one of Lampert’s signature soups, served in a shot glass, at a charity event more than four years ago. Boesky, a real estate developer, writer, and veteran party host who’s been known to throw back-to-back gatherings at her Bedford home, was used to orchestrating events—from small get-togethers of 10 or 20 to special occasions with up to 250 guests—all on her own. Now, “I hand over control,” she says, “and entertaining is seamless.”

Boesky says Lampert’s hands-on approach means she can finally take a breather. “Now, I can relax and enjoy my own parties!” Lampert makes sure themes, menu options, and staff recommendations are confirmed in advance, addressing even the smallest of details, like the just-right blossoms ornamenting the serving trays. And the cleanup that used to await Boesky post-celebration? “By the end of the evening, my clean serving platters on the counter are the only clue that I’ve had a party,” she says.

Lampert is probably best known for Café of Love and Ladle of Love, her Mount Kisco restaurant and soup kitchen, respectively. “The ‘Love’ brand is all about organic, healthy, farm-to-table dishes that I feel proud to serve,” Boesky says. She’s quick to praise the “addictive” crispy flatbreads, truffle chickpeas, and, her “all-time favorite,” the chocolate Verrone dessert. In addition to Love on the Run’s standing catering menu, Lampert is happy to accommodate custom orders by request. “I think Leslie could do great picnic baskets to fabulous weddings,” Boesky says. “There isn’t anything she cannot do.”

CATERER: Love on the Run (11B S Moger Ave, Mount Kisco 914-242-9449; cafeofloveny.com) COST PER PERSON: $18-$350; WILL FEED: 10-250; FAVORITE VENUE SPACE: “At-home events,” Lampert says, “because we get to go into people’s hutches and use their dishes and things to decorate in unexpected ways”; NEWEST CATERING TREND: Deconstructing desserts, like a re-imagined pumpkin pecan pie served pudding-style in a bowl; MOST UNUSUAL EVENT: “An outdoor, same-sex union during a storm with hurricane-force winds and a tornado warning,” Lampert says.

A 45-person brunch by Love on the Run at a Pound Ridge home featured three-herb chicken- salad sandwiches and farmhouse salad.
