“It is better to adhere to basic nutritional principles than to assume that eating organically is the same as eating healthy,” says Louis Aronne, MD, an obesity specialist with the Westchester Medical Group in Rye, noting that an organic Oreo is not better than a non-organic apple. “While there is no question that fewer pesticides and fewer antibiotics in our foods is better, it remains to be seen whether organic foods are better than non-organic.”
