American Idol finalist from Season 5, Elliot Yamin, will entertain the (potentially screaming) masses at Rye Playland tonight. Even though he was voted off after making it to the final three (along with Katherine McPhee and Taylor Hicks), Yamin has still made a name for himself—his self-titled album debuted at number three on the Billboard charts and his single, “Wait For You,” ranked at number 11 on the Pop 100 Airplay in 2007. Due to limited seating, get comfy and bring your own blankets and chairs!

We’re (sadly) in the home stretch of the summer season—and what better way to celebrate than with a classic warm-weather film at the Emelin Theatre? Summer of ’42 stars Jennifer O’Neill as a lonely, married woman awaiting her husband’s return from WWII. Things get complicated once a young Hermie (Gary Grimes) enters Dorothy’s (O’Neill) life when he and his family vacation on Nantucket Island.

No, the Rust Riot is not what happens after you leave your silverware in the sink too long—it’s the 2nd annual gathering of vintage car lovers, scouting pre-‘65 hot rods, custom built cars, and “beaters.” However, with live “rockabilly” music by The Arkhams, Memphis Morticians, and Barry Ryan’s Rockabilly Express, as well as art by Zahra’s Studio of Beacon, food, and a full cash bar, this is much more than just a car show.

Hear a tragically beautiful work of art performed by some of our county’s most talented vocalists when the Westchester Chorale takes on Verdi’s Requiem. The Italian composer wrote the 90-minute piece in memoriam of the death of poet/novelist, Alessandro Manzoni. The Chorale, under the direction of Conductor David Randolph, performs this as part of the “August Sings” program—occurring every Tuesday evening for the rest of the month.
