Catch a screening of Nixon at the Jacob Burns Film Center—then partake in a special Q&A with acclaimed and controversial director Oliver Stone, whose George W. Bush biopic, W, opens this fall. Nixon, which was nominated for four Academy Awards, chronicles the demise of our 37th president before, during, and after the Watergate scandal. New York Times critic Janet Maslin will accompany Stone for the Q&A.

American Idol finalist from Season 5, Elliot Yamin, will entertain the (potentially screaming) masses at Rye Playland tonight. Even though he was voted off after making it to the final three (along with Katherine McPhee and Taylor Hicks), Yamin has still made a name for himself—his self-titled album debuted at number three on the Billboard charts and his single, “Wait For You,” ranked at number 11 on the Pop 100 Airplay in 2007. Zappa Plays Zappa—a tribute show devoted to the late Frank Zappa—features Frank’s own son, Dweezil, on lead guitar. The group has been touring all over the globe and touches down tonight at the Paramount. By replicating the set from Zappa’s Joe’s Garage tour, and performing hits such as “Magic Fingers” and Tiny Lights,” the band should make this a memorable evening for all.

The boys of Someday Radio take the stage at Vintage tonight. The band formed back in 2004 when brothers Mike, Tom, and Pete Dwyer—along with lifelong friends Vince Curry and Greg de Sousa—were asked to perform at a Westchester party. Hear a tragically beautiful work of art performed by some of our county’s most talented vocalists when the Westchester Chorale takes on Verdi’s Requiem. The Italian composer wrote the 90-minute piece in memoriam of the death of poet/novelist, Alessandro Manzoni. The Chorale, under the direction of Conductor David Randolph, performs this as part of the “August Sings” program—occurring every Tuesday evening for the rest of the month.
