OSSINING—As part of its plans to merge with the Village of Ossining and become a single entity, the Town of Ossining has created a third part-time judicial seat for its new unified court system, which goes into effect January 1, 2012.

MOUNT VERNON—An unidentified Bronx man cheated death at the city’s Fleetwood Metro-North station, when he fell between the train tracks while walking on them, and survived a train running over him with only minor injuries.

YORKTOWN—The town’s plans to test its new “reverse 911” emergency alert system were preempted by a real emergency when a water main broke, forcing the town to successfully activate the system ahead of schedule.
