OSSINING—As part of its plans to merge with the Village of Ossining and become a single entity, the Town of Ossining has created a third part-time judicial seat for its new unified court system, which goes into effect January 1, 2012.
MOUNT VERNON—An unidentified Bronx man cheated death at the city’s Fleetwood Metro-North station, when he fell between the train tracks while walking on them, and survived a train running over him with only minor injuries.
YORKTOWN—The town’s plans to test its new “reverse 911” emergency alert system were preempted by a real emergency when a water main broke, forcing the town to successfully activate the system ahead of schedule. WHITE PLAINS—Burke Rehabilitation Center held its annual Wheelchair Games on its sprawling campus. The event drew roughly 60 athletes from places as far away as Texas.
PORT CHESTER—The village is offering a one-time amnesty program for unpaid parking tickets. Throughout the month of November, the town will waive late fees and penalties on previously unpaid tickets. The village hopes to realize $200,000 in revenue from the program.
