Former real estate attorney Sue De Chiara
became so immersed in the 2007 renovation of her post-Georgian-style Colonial home in Pound Ridge that she launched her own home and fashion accessories blog, thezhush.blogspot.com. “The blog sucked me into the design field even further,” says De Chiara, who, in 2010, went on to found zhush.com, an online shop specializing in “those bright little colorful accents that add personality to a space.”
One of De Chiara’s most delightful finds? A new tabletop and accessories collection that pays homage to legendary American designer Sister Parish from Parish’s granddaughter, Susan Bartlett Crater of Bedford, and former Parish protégé, local designer Libby Cameron. Sister Parish Design items showcase the design icon’s exuberantly bright patterned textiles. Look for its bold-yet-whimsical, laminated-fabric-and-acrylic trays, ice buckets, and pinch pots, and fabric-covered tissue-box covers, pencil cups, and memo pads at zhush.com and sisterparishdesign.com. Ranging from $20 to $85, they are modestly priced indeed for one’s own little pieces of design history.
