Scarsdale resident Elena Rosenberg, who was taught to knit by her mom, picked up her dormant knitting needles after graduating college. Today, Rosenberg continues to hand-knit each of her gorgeous original designs—without the use of looms or machines—in her home studio. She works almost exclusively in such fine natural and often-organic fibers as merino wool, cashmere, alpaca, silk knits, and Pima cotton. “How my designs feel to the touch and next to the skin is paramount,” she says. Her elegant-yet-modern styles include scarves, shawls, hats, gloves, fiber jewelry, and other imaginative designs. Her signature piece—her versatile Rococo shawl ($390-$500)—“works for any age and can be styled in a lot of different ways. It’s classic and not too over-the-top,” she adds, “but, at the same time, it’s pretty glamorous.”
