R5 Restaurant Openings, Closings, Kitchen Changes, and Food Events in Westchester County, NY: November 2012

Executive Chef Rafael Velazquez, who had previously served as executive chef of the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, is heading the kitchen at New American restaurant Härth (Hilton Westchester, 699 Westchester Ave, Rye Brook 914-939-6300). Dishes to sample include a 24-ounce, grass-fed porterhouse steak from Hemlock Hill Farm in Cortlandt Manor; wood-fired oven flatbreads topped with cheese from Sprout Creek Farm in Poughkeepsie, New York; black sea bass; and mushroom pappardelle. Entrées range from $18.50 to $35.50. New York State wines and small-batch New York State microbrews dominate the drink offerings. Härth is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day // The father-and-son team of Herb and Keith Anstett, owners of Al’s Cookout in Brookfield, Connecticut, have opened Rudy’s (156 Central Ave, Hartsdale 914-358-9051; rudysny.com) in the spot that once housed Jade Garden Chinese. The 160-seat Traditional American/Southern restaurant and sports bar (30 TVs) serves, among other dishes, burgers, wings, pulled pork, cedar-plank salmon, and a 14-ounce New York strip. Entrées cost from $17 to $24; a late-night menu is available until midnight weekdays and 2 am on weekends. Expect comedic as well as jazz performances, and karaoke on the built-in stage. Max Parangi Architects of White Plains designed the interior // The bi-level space that once held Tino’s Italian Steak House and Sabatino’s Coal Brick Oven is scheduled to reopen at the end of this month as The Stone Manor @ One O One  (101 Old Saw Mill River Rd, Hawthorne; no phone as of press time), a 140-seat Mediterranean steakhouse and 175-person capacity catering facility. Michael Casarella and Tommy Stratis of Goldfish in Ossining and Casa Rina in Thornwood are its owners // Chef Rafael Palomino is closing Greenwich Tavern and remaking the space into a second Bistro Latino (1392 E Putnam Ave, Greenwich, CT 203-698-9033). The tapas-centric restaurant is scheduled to open by the start of this month. Palomino’s original Bistro Latino opened in Tuckahoe this past February.

The floor-to-ceiling windows at Hilton Westchester’s Härth bring the outdoors inside and offer panoramic views of the redeveloped courtyard and gardens.
