R5 Report Finds Recession Is “Far from Over” in Counties Including Westchester

Think the economy’s on the upturn? Think again. A quarterly economic report put together by Marist College surveyed areas of the Hudson Valley, including Westchester, Ulster, Rockland, Putnam, and Dutchess Counties. The report found that unemployment will rise “well above the 10 percent mark,” and will not begin to head back down until the second half of 2010. Furthermore, new home construction has virtually stopped, according to the report.
