R5 New Census Bureau Stats: Westchester Pays Highest Real State Taxes in Nation

Here’s a Top 10 list you don’t want to be on.

Your wallet’s probably already done a sufficient job of telling you this already, but the numbers are offical: new Census Bureau data from Washington, D.C.-based Tax Foundation have found that, of all counties in the entire nation, Westchester County pays the highest real estate taxes. In 2008, Westchesterites’ median real estate taxes came in at a staggering $8,890. Need some perspective? The national average is $1,897.

Measured by state, New York came in fourth on the list.
