Want something made with love? Try Grandma Momma’s Legacy Licious Sweet Potato Pie from G&K Sweet Foods. Prepared by friends Gay Wheeler-Smith and Kecia Palmer Cousins, CEO and COO and chief bakers (and bottle washers), the two Westchester moms (Wheeler-Smith is from New Rochelle, Palmer Cousins from Peekskill) took the crinkled, decades-old recipe of Wheeler-Smith’s great-grandmother to create a creamy, smooth pie, baked with fresh puréed potatoes and organic eggs in a homemade butter-based crust. Each pie is flash frozen to lock in flavor, but when heated it has the heavenly aroma of old fashioned home cooking that warms your soul. Whatever you do, don’t fill up on dinner: the velvety, thick consistency will have you reaching for a second slice. Pies are available in three sizes at Lola’s Tea House (130 Fifth Ave, Pelham, 914-738-2100), Chocolations (607 E Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck 914-777-3600), and at gksweetfoods.com ($5 for 6-inch; $15 for 9-inch).
