It’s been ninety plus years since the 19th Amendment was ratified, but women still suffer inequalities—earning, for instance, between $0.75 and $0.80 for every $1 that men make in the same job. So, are we in Westchester—as with, say, property taxes—beating the trend? Not so much. According to figures from the Census Bureau, for median incomes of full-time workers, Westchester’s women make just $0.79 of every dollar made by men. In addition, women make up 47 percent of the county’s workforce but own less than 30 percent of its companies.
