Big-screen stars, film buffs, and Pleasantville politicians were all on hand to welcome the Jacob Burns Film Center’s new Media Arts Lab at an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Guests were introduced to the cool-looking, eco-conscious building (the outside is still a work-in-progress), the state-of-the-art facilities it houses, and the slate of new classes available to the next generation of Spielbergs. Speakers not only shared happy memories of their times at the Burns Center (local pol Andrea Stewart-Cousins received good news about her state senate race at the Lab’s groundbreaking), but stressed the importance of fostering a visual literacy in this new century.
