Foodies from Westchester and Connecticut gathered Friday, March 4 at the Hyatt Regency in Old Greenwich for the 26th annual Great Chefs event. More than 550 people enjoyed food and wine from some 70 different restaurants, caterers, and wine distributors in Fairfield and Westchester Counties. People lined up by the dozens for Daniel Boulud’s specialty dish by Executive Chef Jean Francois Bruel: stuffed with sweet Maine shrimp dover sole which included honjimeni mushrooms, crispy mussels, and chive oil in a dieppoise sauce. The evening was filled with exceptional food, desserts, and dancing and was topped off with a special speech by Boulud, who thanked his staff and all the great chefs who participated. When I asked Chef Boulud if he could teach the Nightfly how to cook, he said there may not be enough time in a day to teach me. The next time I see him will be in the dining room (not the kitchen for cooking lessons) at one of his many restaurants, which include Daniel, Cafe Boulud, Bar Pleiades, DB Bistro Moderne, Bar Boulud, and DBGB Kitchen & Bar in New York. Overall, it was a wonderful evening filled with delicious food!
