The ambience of the dining room is perfect for either a lively gathering with friends, colleagues, and family or an intimate affair for two. Textured surfaces, like those of the X-base table and the hammered-metal hardware that adorns the pine sideboard, bring to the room handcrafted Arts and Crafts style touches. A variety of woods and metals—staple materials of the Arts and Crafts movement—are found throughout the room, e.g., the brushed-steel chandelier and sconces and the X-base serving tray. The room’s high wainscoted panels are topped by a banner of metallic red and gold grasscloth wallpaper, accented by artwork including American artist Alexis Hale’s original painting Fuel. The deep chocolate mohair chairs and the cotton-edge sisal carpet contrast with the lighter pine furnishings.
