Steffi Nossen School of Dance
White Plains (914) 328-1900; steffinossen.org
Steffi Nossen’s philosophy has always been “Anyone can dance—and everyone should,” and, at this school, which has been operating since the Great Depression, everyone does! The school offers an exciting array of classes for kids of all ages and skill levels. One of our favorites is Moving Wheels & Heels, which helps students of all ages and abilities (wheelchair and stand-up) enhance their creativity, increase their strength and range of motion, and build self-esteem.
Central Park Dance
Scarsdale, (914) 723-2940; centralparkdance.com
We all had our favorite fairytale growing up (and, okay, we still do as adults). So what’s better than bringing a fairytale to life? Not much. Central Park Dance’s “Fairytale Ballet” allows your 3- to 5-year-old do just that during the class, which includes ballet movements based on fairytales and stimulates your child’s imagination with lavish costumes, props, and scenery. Central Park is not just for girls, either. “Break-Boyz” is a class just for boys as young as 3 and teaches your little hip-hopper or break-dancer fundamental dance skills.
