R5 County and Federal Goverment Reach Accord on Affordable Housing Issue

A couple of weeks ago, we told you about the CBS Evening News‘ coverage of our county’s lack of affordable housing for low-income families—an ongoing issue where various Westchester municipalities (Scarsdale and Harrison, to name a couple) have refused to comply with Westchester’s Housing Opportunity Commission’s recommendation to build affordable units.

Now, the New York Times weighs in on a recent settlement between the county and the federal government, in which the county has finally agreed to spend $50 million building or acquiring 750 homes and apartments throughout Westchester (often in predominantly white towns and villages).
