R5 Controversial “Kill Gays” Reggae Artist To Perform At Westchester County Center

Coming on the heels of the county’s first-ever gay pride event (see previous Newsflash), Jamaican reggae musician Buju Banton, whose violently homophobic lyrics have included lines about pouring acid on gay men and shooting them in the head, will perform at the Westchester County Center on Sept. 27 as part of the Jam Rock Music Festival. Concert promoters canceled several of Banton’s performances elsewhere, but new promoters have stepped in to continue Banton’s tour at the remaining venues, including the County Center.
