The tri-state’s largest independent closet manufacturer, Alternative Closets uses wood and color laminates to build custom storage solutions with adjustable storage systems. Wall units, home offices, mud rooms, and entertainment centers are also part of the company’s repertoire. An array of accessories, such as sliding belt and tie racks, drawers, wire baskets, shoe cubbies, and hampers, can be configured to customize closets.

California Closets

California Closets is so well established, it’s become a noun unto itself, like Coke and Band-Aids. Not even a tornado last summer could put the kibosh on this closet emporium, which suffered severe damage to its showroom. Owner Bob Westenberg restarted production within a week, offering a full line of storage solutions, ranging from simple laminate reach-in closets to wood-tone walk-ins fully outfitted with accessories California Closets recently introduced Suite, a flexible, furniture-like storage system that incorporates the latest trends in home décor.

Closet Factory

2291 Fairfield Ave., Bridgeport, CT

(888) 793-7526

www.closetfactory.com

Closet Factory is proud to have engineered the industry’s first truly custom closet more than two decades ago—well before it became standard in new construction and a wish-list item for current homeowners. Today, the company has branched out into home offices, laundry rooms, children’s rooms, pantries, and entertainment centers. Installation is usually one week after the initial consultation with the designer. According to co-owner Sharon Gallerani, Closet Factory also provides furniture-quality woodworking in mahogany, cherry, and maple, even including built-in armoires and dressers.

Transform

20 Jones St., New Rochelle

(914) 500-1000

www.gotransform.com

Transform’s slogan, “Renew Your Inner Space,” sounds more like the mantra at a spiritual retreat than a home improvement goal. But anyone who’s opened an overstuffed closet only to have an entire season’s worth of sweaters tumble out knows that an organized closet helps keep the mental clutter at bay, too. Transform totally gets it, with ASID designers creating beautifully designed systems for walk-ins, reach-ins, dressing rooms, libraries, media centers, pantries, laundry rooms, and garages—for safety (the next tumble could be your shoeboxes) and sanity.
