This contemporary Italian café in the landmark Kisco train station is the anti-“meatballs and spaghetti” red-sauce eatery; instead Via Vanti serves small-plates selections such as Tuscan flatbread sandwiches; polenta with Gorgonzola; poached figs with taleggio, smoked pork, and toasted walnuts; pizzettes (mini-pizzas); and grazing “bocco” boards of cured meats, cheese, and vegetables. The fare at the 50-seat bakery/café called The Barn is American farmhouse cuisine with an emphasis on seasonal foods from small family farms; except entrees such as a trio of Berkshire pork, Long Island striped bass, and hand-rolled garganelli with Oregon porcini and wild asparagus.
