Enter The New Bathroom
Oversized, Upscale, Plush, and Posh
The most luxurious room in the home is out of the (water) closet now that crystal chandeliers, fireplaces and, yes, even surround sound music systems have moved in
By Nancy Claus Giles
Today’s bathrooms are not just for bathing, brushing, and beautifying—how prosaic!—but for enjoyment, entertainment, and enhancement. In the privacy of that most private of spaces, you can lock the door and…
a listen to Mozart (or Bach or, if you prefer, U2) on surround sound speakers;
a lounge on an overstuffed chair;
a warm up in front of a fireplace;
a watch Oprah on a plasma TV;
a munch on the goodies stocked in a Sub-Zero fridge;
a get tanned in the shower;
a enjoy a steaming cup of espresso from the Illy coffeemaker.
You can also wrap yourself in a warmed Frette towel after a relaxing (or risque—your choice) session in the steam shower built for two.
Here is a glance at some of the new bathroom looks.
