Number of Tax Grievances Filed in Westchester Is on the Rise

As the value of homes have plummeted—even in our once seemingly resilient county of Westchester—the number of tax grievances being filed by homeowners in municipal offices have soared. For instance, in White Plains this year—which, by the way, Forbes magazine just deemed as the third most expensive city in the nation—tax challenges are up 60 percent over last year. And according to the New York Times, an increasing number of people have succeeded in getting their taxes reduced, leaving cities with insufficient tax income.
