Nine Streets New York: Cozy Craftsmanship and Provenance

A Tarrytown store run by beautiful design.

When the collections of mother-and-daughter duo Lidy and Esther de Hollander took over all their cupboards and closets, the two opened this cozy shop celebrating craftsmanship and provenance. “More and more people are tired of living in a throwaway society and want to be surrounded by items with heart and history that will last,” says Esther de Hollander. “We offer special items that tell a story and can be cherished and passed down.” Nine Streets—the name refers to the Amsterdam neighborhood from which their family hails—features a lovingly curated collection of beautiful objects for the home sourced from around the world. You’ll find charming stoneware bells ($130 to $220) handcrafted in Brooklyn and a collection of one-of-a-kind pillows covered in vintage kantha fabric sourced from India ($75 to $145) alongside reupholstered vintage chairs and antique case goods like a British Colonial writing desk ($700).
