Abis Japanese Restaurant in Mamaroneck is no more; in its place: La Herradura (406 Mamaroneck Ave 914-630-2377), a 4,000-square-foot, bi-level Mexican eatery with a sister restaurant in New Rochelle. Dishes to try include chiles rellenos, shrimp in tequila sauce, chicken enchiladas verdes (green sauce), and chimichanga (deep-fried burrito). Entrées cost between $13 and $22. Northern Italian restaurant Il Castello (576 Mamaroneck Ave, Mamaroneck 914-777-2200) has opened in the space that once housed Il Teatro. The 65-seat restaurant specializes in homemade pastas plus tableside presentations of Caesar salad, whole roasted fish, and zabaglione. Mains, which cost from $14 to $26, include veal scaloppine, shrimp scampi, chicken Calabrese, and spaghetti primavera. Lunch is offered Tuesday through Friday; dinner Tuesday through Sunday
