A quintet of restaurants is scheduled to open this month:

1) bar- taco (1 Willett Ave, Port Chester 914-937-8226; bartaco.com), a taqueria from the owners of Barcelona in Greenwich, Connecticut, serves—what else?—tacos, among them red snapper, tuna belly, short rib, spicy pork sausage, Thai shrimp, and braised pork butt ($2 to $3), plus small plates like tamales and ceviche ($4 to $14);

2) Harper’s Restaurant & Bar (92 Main St, Dobbs Ferry, 914-693-2306; harpersonmain.com), a New American restaurant in the space that once housed Mimosa and the brainchild of partner Christopher Vergara of Meritage Restaurant in Scarsdale, offers such dishes as shellfish stew, duck rillette, and roasted pork porterhouse with leeks, bacon, and Brussels sprouts ($18 to $25);

3) Mariela’s Wine & Espresso Bar (71B Westchester Ave, Pound Ridge, no phone as of press time; marielas winebar.com) is a 25-seat Scotts Corners eatery featuring panini, crostini, soups, salads, pâtés, salumi ($5 to $9), a 60-bottle eclectic wine list, plus 20 wines-by-the-glass;

4) Fig & Olive Kitchen & Tasting Bar (Vernon Hills Shopping Center, Scarsdale; figandolive.com) is the first suburban outpost of the Manhattan triplet where olive oil reigns (no butter!) in a variety of Mediterranean-inspired mains, e.g., grilled lamb on rosemary skewers, grilled branzino with aged balsamic, and Dover sole marinated with herbes de Provençe for two ($17 to $45), plus a multitude of small plates and salads ($4.50 to $23).

5) Massa’ (2 Weaver St, Scarsdale 914-472-4600; massascarsdale.com), a 200-seat Italian restaurant from the owners of La Villetta (son Francesco Coli and father, Pasquale Coli) in Larchmont. Complementing a seafood-heavy menu inspired by the Puglia region of Italy will be 50 wines-by-the-glass and a 300 international by-the-bottle selection. Entrées range from $18 to $28. Upon the opening of Massa’, La Villetta will close for a two-month renovation.

If preheating your oven to 425°F isn’t too taxing, you qualify to try one of the pizzas at HomeMade Pizza Company (25 Purchase St, Rye 914-921-3000; 1939 Palmer Ave, Larchmont 914-833-8338; homemadepizza.com), the first New York location of the Chicago-based bake-at-home pie chain. Build your own pie with any number of 45 toppings or order one of the 13 pre-set pizzas, including fresh herb with chèvre, sausage and caramelized onion, and wild mushroom with Fontinella cheese ($10.95 to $17.95).

Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich are flexing their Port Chester food muscles beyond Tarry Lodge with the opening of Tarry Market (175 N Main St, Port Chester 914-253-5680; tarrymarket.com) and Tarry Wine (179 N Main St, Port Chester 914-939-7234; tarrywine.com). The gourmet food market sells fresh pasta, cured meats, daily baked breads, focaccia, and pastry, cheeses, rotisserie meats, and features a wine Enomatic and an espresso bar. A rooftop garden filled with fruits and veggies is planned for this summer. Tarry Wine sells European varietals with an emphasis on the wines of Italy.

Abe and Rabab Naser, who previously owned seafood restaurant Down by the Bay in Mamaroneck, have opened Pistachio Grille (385 Halstead Ave, Harrison 914-630-4440). Much of the menu features Mediterranean dishes including pistachio-encrusted salmon with pomegranate reduction and oven-baked tagine of calamari, though traditional American fare including crab cakes and burgers also is offered. Main dishes cost between $13 and $24. Pistachio Grille is open every day for lunch and dinner.

Joseph Sasso, formerly of Monteverde in Cortlandt Manor and The Fish Cellar in Mount Kisco, will lead a team of 45 as executive chef and head of the Culinary Department at New York Hospitality Group (nyhospitalitygroup.com), consisting of Sam’s of Gedney Way,
The Great American BBQ Company, and Caperberry Events).
