New Local Stores for Westchester Home Décor, Furnishings, and Accessories

Heavy Metal

Greenwich, Connecticut, designer Claire Maestroni has partnered with French-born sculptor and metalsmith Franck Areno to launch Artelier, a design destination specializing in residential and commercial decorative metalwork, art, and one-of-a kind furnishings, lighting, and architectural elements. The store is described as “part art studio and metalsmithing workshop, part design-trade showroom, and part retail and creative salon.” Its name, Artelier, fuses the words “art” with “atelier,” French for studio. The large open space includes an open view to Areno’s welding workshop.

A Stunning Sight—and Sound

Of course, pianos are prized musical instruments, but they also are often magnificent works of art that can provide a dramatic focal point for an interior space. So, whether you’re a concert-caliber pianist or just someone who enjoys tickling the ivories, do visit Faust Harrison Piano, a recently opened full retail showroom and state-of-the-art piano restoration shop, housed on the Music Conservatory of Westchester (MCW) campus. A leading independent retailer of top-quality pianos, Faust Harrison was founded in 1983 by concert pianist Sara Faust, who later was joined by composer/pianist Michael Harrison. It is the region’s exclusive dealer for Yamaha, Bechstein, and Mason & Hamlin pianos and the world’s largest independent retailer of fully rebuilt vintage-era Steinways. Prices on new instruments start at $3,000.

Taking a page from fashion mags, white is now white hot all year ‘round when it comes to home décor. So, what better time for a shop devoted to all-white home accents, tabletop, and accessories? The store was inspired by the beautiful white pebbles Harrison resident Lynn S. McGuinn admired on a Hamptons beach last summer, and she has assembled a casually elegant collection strong on fine ceramic porcelain, glass, crystal, linens, leather, silver, and pewter. Showcased in an inviting space, standouts include an elk-horn-and-leather chair and ottoman ($3,250); archival black-and-white photographs in silver frames ($80–$175); and a four-light chandelier made from sun-bleached deer antlers ($1,100).
