Scarves are having a major moment right now, but Tarrytown couple Kent Frankstone, a former attorney, and Jackie Edelmann Frankstone, who worked in retail for B. Altman and Macy’s, were way ahead of the trend when, 16 years ago, they launched their designer scarf business, Stone + Mann Design.
“I have always loved fabrics, touching and working with them and putting together different colors and materials,” Edelmann Frankstone says. The couple collaborates on the scarves’ designs, drawing inspiration from such disparate sources as landscape paintings, architecture, and nature.
A core collection of 20 to 25 styles is offered in silk velvet, silk chiffon, and silk georgette—often from Asia—and, for winter, Italian merino and cashmere wool, with each individually sewn by a New Jersey seamstress. Prices range from $40 to $145. To order, visit stoneplusmann.com or call (800) 660-1380.
