Whitby Castle in Rye was the setting for Hawthorne-based AIDS-Related Community Services’ (ARCS) Harvest of Hope Charity Ball. ARCS honored the M•A•C AIDS Fund, the philanthropic arm of M•A•C Cosmetics, along with Hudson Valley restaurateurs Patrick McKenna and Jim Svetz for their support of local residents with HIV/AIDS. The duo owns Cafeteria in New Paltz, NY, and Chill Wine Bar in Beacon, NY. “ARCS’ Charity Ball, now in its ninth year, is our opportunity to recognize those who have made significant multi-year contributions,” said J. Dewey, ARCS director of Public Relations & Resource Enhancement. Approximately $20,000 was raised and 120 guests attended the ball. M•A•C employees from the store in The Westchester provided complimentary makeovers to ARCS clients on World AIDS Day (December 1) at the ARCS Hawthorne office. ARCS offers services to more than 3,000 residents annually in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties.
