The county is home to three more alpacas, born in July at Faraway Farm in Yorktown Heights. Five more are due next year (the alpacas have an average gestation period of 111∕2 months). Faraway Farm, which breeds alpacas for their fleece from which it makes yarns and garments to sell at its farm store, is open to visitors this month on the 25th and 26th from 10 am to 4 pm, on weekends from Thanksgiving until Christmas, and year-round by appointment (914-962-2110; FarawayFarmAlpacas.com).
